Biology is weird that way. Big results require big alterations. Just to be clear, nobody stab their eyes please. I looked into possibly using the delivery method we used for the ce6. It doesn't get to the right location.
-
Yeah, we're still here. We're just lazy turnips. Also, I commented in this thread the same day you said you don't see me around anymore. Geez, you stop yelling at people and they go soft. My vote is : replication ease - high application ease - way low and probably stupid to do at home potential side effects - way to early…

I mean, that's some pretty good data there. And it's direct. It's not like they were like, hey we did this thing and so we think that this other thing will happen. They tested it well, too. I'd wait a little bit longer for negative side effects to show up.

Can you be more specific about what you mean by 'info about crispr'?
-
Do they not have what you're looking for or is there another reason you're looking elsewhere?
-
I feel like we've gotten a bit off topic. Given the new information, could you redefine and reoutline your plan?
-
Fresh spideys are incoming, along with more supplies.
-
@ThermalWinter Are you asking for the papers that we are using to back our projects? I can put those together and dump them into the dropbox. All the projects? As for the plant project, that is off topic for this thread. If you want to start another thread or pm me, I'm totally down to talk more about it. I've been slow…

@RealityWizard "Research in a non scientific manner"? What does that even mean? I work in a lab. You can't do lab work without using the scientific method. Is it a fun lab? I guess so. I'm not a huge fan of how you delineate between projects. We do all of the options you outlined. That's kind of the point of having your…

For sure. I'm not saying it's not doable. Just that the hurdle is a bit high atm
-
Yeah, mammalian work is easy but expensive. I'm not suffering from anything except a lack of sleep at the moment. I just kinda started working on this for a friend and it became a thing. Chironex outlined it very well. He was there when we put together the lab. As he mentioned, the thing you are attacking from a software…
-
I'm working with HSV right now. What are you doing?
-
@Moonman0922 no, no, that's @chrionex. He helped me set up a lab in the US and we did some projects together. He's back in Canada now with a new lab of his own.
-
Have you already looked into washi paper making techniques. Physical application of materials is so crucial in material science stuff The process itself creates a really durable paper.
-
@Verta the vectors are a 3part BAC. I store them in the fridge/freezer/-80degC/liquid nitrogen, depending on what I'm using. In a tube.
-
@RealityWizard get to use the lab so freely?... I had to re read that. I was so confused. That's my lab. And it took years of false starts and working other jobs, saving money, dealing with con investors... Mammalian cell culture is really simple, once you have the proper tools. Once you have a laminar flow hood life…

@Moonman0922 In regards to the ear apple project, that's what we call an extracellular matrix (ECM), the same way that one can make a ghost heart as a scaffold to seed a new heart with stem cells for implant. Consider it a ghost apple. The cool thing is that you can make ghost anything and then seed cells on it. Since I…

That about sums it up. I mean, different background than Cas, but after you do something for a decade you kind of get... well not good, but decent enough to not sound like an idiot online.

Calcium glucoate seems to be the go to. We've had some issues with the prp ... crashing? solidifying? using that addition. Any suggestions?
-
The short answer is no. I think there are a few very old threads about this but I'm not opening them up. Basically, your desires to make things from bacteria, and the bacterial desires, are diametrically opposed. There is no metabolic advantage for them to make any compounds for you. Even in professional industry labs,…

How about this? https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25788334

Why is this thread a conversation?
-
I think everything that needs to be said in this post has been made. Please create a new thread with an outline of an actual project if you want to continue. There is a strong difference between advocating for experimentation and advocating for experimentation on animals with no experience.

Third thumb video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1TkiN309_4 Got some news and then disappeared like every other art project. I think they have the files available though, if you have the right type of printer. Everyone reading this should check out "The Journal of Soft Robotics". It's a scientific journal devoted…

yeah, that person is @chironex . That's my lab. He was my room mate at the time. Cool that you'e excited :) We've been tightening up that protocol and working on some other stuff too. Viral vectors are pretty standard tech if you have the hardware to grow them. Very useful.
-
It's not that no one cares. It's that genetic modification of that sort aren't really a thing unless you're in utero/vitro. And I mean not a thing like it's not really possible. Once you have differentiated, you're kind of set.
-
can you post your construct so a couple of us could take a look at it?
-
This is a shotgun blast of concepts. Let's try to work through them all. A lenti virus can easily handle a crispr system. I think our latest construct has two know outs and isn't too big to mess anything up. If you want to make a virus for human application, you need to grow that virus in human cells. It just works better.…

Selfish in the most biological sense. In the most literal sense. About the self. It's not ridiculously broad. It's what the word means. I know it's unpleasant to hear, but that's how words work. You getting better at you job (for instance, feeling electrical wires) isn't really a non selfish act. It's about you getting…

It's true. Between the Vice news segment where I laugh at Aaron a lot, coupled with him dying 3 days later,... it put a damper on our enthusiasm about that video. We have all the hardware back, plus some new stuff. We're just being a bit more quiet now. If anyone is interested in the current inventory list, I can make that…
