how much do electroretinography scans cost?
-
I started lurking on the site in June of 2011, actually joined a year later
-
That's what I was thinking too, but I'm going to have to wait to see your guys data before I do anything myself
-
A thought just occurred to me, what would this experiment do to a person with say a rare degenerative eye disease? I have been afflicted with Keritoconus for the better part of a decade, until stem cell therapy produces a cure I will always require regular eye surgeries(regular being every 5-10 years, a few more if I'm…

Yes, I'm waiting to reimplant mine while I look into different options for the magnet shape and coating. @Cassox is working on things much more important so it's shelved for now though, and if all goes well with the infrared experiment, I will look into it as an interesting hack to attempt, I was already planning on…
-
@brainstorm42 Yeah I know, apparently they no longer sell the ones I used, which sucks because I need to reimplant it, so I have been talking to Cassox about creating a custom one with 3 cylindrical magnets coated in the dental resin, we had to shelve it for now until he is done with the infrared vision project
-
@brainstorm42 I got the injector from Hong Kong, and it came with an RFID chip that I lost the same day I put my magnet in, and yeah, I got mine from SuperMagnetMan, cylindrical, 2mm X 7mm

I care little for money. I only wish to have enough to 1) survive, and 2) help me transcend my biological limitations by acquiring resources I need. I would much prefer if money wasn't needed at all. It's the only thing slowing me down in life, and I cannot wait for the day we can cast it aside. I see great potential in 3D…
-
Regardless, if I had the money, I would happily pay it to get it done.
-
If I had an extra four grand lying around(I believe that was the price quoted for the MEA) I would have no qualms of doing it.
-
I'm prone to forgetting things. I have already accidentally left my iPad in several stores at the cash register then had to run back to get it. Besides, one day we will have onboard wifi anyway, why not do it now? Of course by then wifi might even be obsolete.
-
Well idk when I will be able to reimplant mine since I'm temporarily joining the army soon to pay for college, so because of that I'm probably just gonna get $150 worth of magnets from them in one go when I'm able to reimplant lol
-
That sounds like a great idea, I checked out the site, I like it. Something like this could really help with publicity.
-
@iexiak That's a very good idea. It gives me a place to start at least. I really hope I can accomplish this, but if I have to scrap it I will though.
-
K&J does custom jobs? But that's one of those places you have to buy in bulk right? I would like to get spme bigger parylene coated cylindrical neodymium magnets. The only place I found that sells them in singles only has very small ones.
-
@ThomasEgi @AmmonRa You have given me a lot to think about. I would still like to at least make a prototype one day to experiment with. The biggest reason is i really dont care too much about smartphones right now. I only require 3 things in a phone: a keyboard, unlimited calls, and unlimited text. My plan on Metro PCS is…

Great! I am going to keep the window open for another week or so, I would like to get as many differemt views as I can on this.

I'm talking about implanting one of the handheld portable hotspots, just modifying it to be bioproofed and use inductive charging instead of plugging it into the wall charging. Most already only have a battery life of 4-5 hours, but some go even up to 11+ hours. I think it could work. After I get a stable job, I would like…
-
Ok, I will finish up the questions after I get home. A coupke friends invited me to watch my first roller derby game. I should have them done tomorrow.
-
@Ian Ok, I'm right now working on putting together a list of questions. Public via forums? Private via email or facebook?

Just so you know, the injection method is such a small wound it's pointless to stitch it. Superglue is the best for it. The larger wounds from the scalpel is a little more iffy on the superglue
-
When I put mine in, I'm sure it was just above the Periosteum. I'm very certain mine was too deep however
-
I learned from my mistake and the next time I implant it, it will be more effective.
-
It was the needle method. It was Parylene coated, and rod shaped. It slowly moved it way down the open wound because I neglected to properly close it. I lost the superglue I was going to use the day before.
-
Update: I got my first sensation today, in my school library, the thing they rub the books on during check out has a powerful magnet in it. I felt it, I ran both hands across, hovering it a bit like three times just to make sure it is what I think it is. I haven't been able to feel anything else, which I believe confirms…
-
I planned it at an angle, not for any real health reasons, just added comfort for my hand holding the needle, I could rest part of my right hand along the edge of my left, or at least that was the idea. If I was more experienced it would have went like that, but it was my first time so I was going slow and also the skin…
-
Well that's good to know, I will get another magnet soon to try and pull it up a bit.
-
@Saumanahaii I honestly have no idea who else has done this method. It's still very new, and when I learned of it, was still ONLY hypothetical. I was still acquiring everything I needed when you did yours, or I would have done mine earlier. We are definitely the pioneers of this new method. In addition to the lower amounts…

Hey, how do you think I feel when I watch the video? Lol Just thinking about slightly raises my anxiety. Even though there truly was virtually no pain, I'm still not used to the idea of doing it myself.
