I think its more to do with the Public paranoia on what the public thinks of people who are engaged in any branch of Biology. Public would want new laws to ensure the next outbreak is not caused by biologists. The Problem I see is that there is a gap between how the public understands Cell Research vs. Cell Researchers in…

No its more pre med and pre nursing emphasis in my university. In my community college we did have a biotech class but diy bio was not in the public eye yet. But I will look again and see where it fits in my schedule to join.

Thanks! I was one of these people that posted threads on getting into diy biology, synthetic bio and this. I am majoring in biology but don't really know how to get into syn bio.
-
These have a larger directory of Biohacking/ DIY Groups according to meetup. How did they work out for you?

Review for me but I did remember this though. I did think about eukaryotic cell carrying the gene of interest that supposedly carried the human scent gene at first though. Not so much on E.coli. but i will have to go back to the cell biology books for details.
-
That would be interesting but how much test cells such as Saccharomyces cerevisie or e coli do you need to carry the gene of interest.

Woah!

The next GMO in the making with the gene gun.

I don't think you could have a tv series about synthetic biology. But you could do an episode about biohacking for Nova. I don't really know how you can convince the public about the good side of biohacking. Only biology majors and premed people care about this.

I in fact do have some bio classes such as genetics, micro, and biotech in my belt. Also I am waiting for the results for biochemistry, and cell bio. I will go back to my biotech book and micro book.

Thanks I am from Sacramento and I am trying to consult with my Teachers at Sacramento State University to see is we can start one in the Valley and my Community College Teachers from Solano County in California. I heard of UC Davis mentioned in all of this. But I will Look at the list if all else fails.
