  • Looks painfully normal. Should have bruising for 1-2 weeks. Just slowly fades over time. All part of the normal healing process.
  • This has actually happened to me every time I have gotten an implant (I have 4 now). Kinda scared me the first time. The bruising typically shows up the most at 5-6 days, and fully fades away at about 2 weeks. Unless it begins to hurt again, swell a bit, or feel hot to the touch, you should be all good. But yeah, this is…
  • This is why I use lastpass. Also many thanks to biohack.me for allowing passwords of 100 characters. Now to go and have it automatically switched out with a new 100 character password. :3
  • Well, kids will be kids. I am sure they don't all have to use their hacks for good. What about one with an implanted form of an rfid skimmer/cloner? He can walk around town picking up IDs that are then stored on his system with location geotags and are automatically written to tags in his hands to allow him access to any…
  • Well, I see a few different options you could take here. 1. Inject in the standard location, but rather than inserting the implanting needle from between the thumb and forefinger, insert from further back on the hand than you want the final location to be. Although most insert it down the hand towards the wrist, I can…
  • @FireBreathingReptile I would assume it would be quite visible. With my hands at least, it would be just as visible as my forearm firefly implant which can be seen as a 1-3mm raised bump at all times... I personally love the fact that it is so blatantly obvious that I have an implant there, but that is mainly due to the…
  • @actii Unfortunately I do not have a camera that is able to see the implant (yes the few old cameras I have are shit), but I am really happy with it. I actually wake myself and others up on occasion by accidentally putting my arm near their face in my sleep. Always an odd way to wake up. My location worked really well, at…
  • @AlexSmith @FireBreathingReptile Having one of the V1 tritium implants myself, I am actually really curious as to the answer to this question as well. I assumed maybe 200 or so, but how many have actually been distributed? Edit: I absolutely love my firefly implant. Now four months since I implanted it into my forearm it…
  • Glad you found some of the feedback interesting! I am actually in the process of filling out the interview questions right now. Have 8 pages done, with 1 to go. Overall the questions are really interesting and well chosen.
  • Interesting discussion. I am actually glad you brought it up as I can contribute to this one. My parent's placed me in a private christian school at the age of 5. After finishing the first grade my parents pulled me out of school and started homeschooling me. Mind you, my parents are extremely conservative christians and…
  • The implant procedure that I intend to follow will be basically the same as implanting anything else... i.e. the standard method? I plan to make an incision with a scalpel, use a probe to separate the dermal layers creating a pocket, insert and suture shut. Seems simple enough.
  • Mine is bright enough now after a month that I use it as a light to see objects up to 6" away in an otherwise dark room. Like a little dim flashlight in my arm.
  • Oh God. Drama on the biohack boards? I thought that was a uniquely furry problem. *grabs popcorn and snake oil pills and sits to watch and detoxify*

  • @Meanderpaul Eh, I really don't have a good answer for that. After drawing a set of four paw prints on my left forearm for years, I finally decided to draw a set to have tattooed, and to implant some microchips underneath them. I implanted the first chip (xNT) and then had the tattoos done two months later. A month later I…
  • So time for a small update. The implant is healing very well and faster than I had expected. By today (Day 6), there is no more pain or discomfort associated with it and I am able to palpate the area with no unpleasant feeling. I have been surprised by how bright the implant has become. By day 2, I was able to see a soft…
  • Yay! I was finally able to edit and upload the video to youtube. First a short write-up... So yes, tonight I implanted my firefly tattoo. This was my fourth implant (I previously had 3 microchip implants), and was my first self/solo implant. With my previous implants I found professional piercers who were willing to help…
  • Video should be coming soon....
  • Well, the implant is in. The procedure went well, although being considerably more bloody than I expected. The implant was not immediately visible, but can be very easily felt beneath the skin. I will write more, when I am able to get the video footage off my camera, upload it, and post it here. I would also like to give…
  • I plan to implant my firefly tonight. Will be recording the procedure and reporting back here afterwards. The location I ended up choosing was on the bottom of my left forearm. Similar to the locations of my xNT and xEM. The skin seems rather thin in the area and I think it should be able to shine through decently well.
  • @Zerbula I had considered putting one just beneath and to the side of either eye, but try as I might I can't figure out positioning that I like. X{ I tried drawing out countless locations, but still haven't found one I was happy with.
  • Yeah, I think I will wait for a v2 for my forehead location. The possibility of a brighter implant with anti-migration properties is enough to make me save the spot. Now to figure out where to place my firefly... Might place it underneath one of the two unoccupied paw prints on my arm. They have a light fur texture filling…
  • I have two implants under my left forearm. Both have pawprint tattoos on top of them to mark the location. One of them was implanted after the tattoo was done, but the first was implanted before. I had no issue with tattooing over the implant. It did have a way of spreading the vibrating sensation, but didn't cause any…
  • Interesting idea, but a better application of the concept might be to have a few electrical contacts in the prosthetic that pass a small current through the amputees skin to train them to keep the prosthetic seated in the proper location. I am not talking about a painful sensation here, just a small buzz.
  • Oh dear.... Does no one read anything here?
  • Awesome! I am still waiting on funds to head out to my piercer back where I grew up to implant mine.
  • Awesome video. I can't wait to get mine placed in my left index finger. I have a piercer that will be doing it for me. He has already done a few rfid injections for me and implanted several Haworth magnets for several others. As such I have great faith in him.
  • Or there's medical grade superglue.... Or cauterization... Ok that was a joke. (Though I did make a DIY electrocautery tool when I was 16 and working in a machine shop. I found injuries stayed clean and closed up better if I had a fuzed skin bandage, rather than tape or anything else... That said I do have scars all over…
  • Does your door lock system not allow you to add your own keys? If you could... Heh. Just read "C.". Seems you have worked out all the possibilities. I would most recommend asking the gym about using a different key (your implant). At the very least you could put a LF tag in each hand. You could also consider doing one in…
  • @Meanderpaul Would you care to be Dr. Pepper? :3
