  • Hey, y'all. I'm just coming in to talk about Cassox's magnet that I have in my finger. I got one of his test magnets implanted in my finger a little over 3 years ago. I work with my hands a lot, as I'm an electrician. I just wanted to say that it's still working great and that I haven't had any problems with it. So, great…
  • Dang. I probably won't ever go the parylene route, just because of the nuisance of it binding to the skin. I got one of Cassox's magnets when he was still in beta testing. So far, it's holding up great, and I do smash it quite often. I'm left-handed/ambidextrous. So, my right hand (technically my off hand) is mostly my…
  • No. Most folks in my life think it's amusing but harmless that I have a finger magnet. My dad cracks jokes, my girlfriend doesn't give much thought to it, unless I jerk away from something that I wasn't expecting to be magnetic. My co-workers think it's downright magical, though, since I'm an electrician and can feel…
  • Do you have the 3mm x 6mm in your finger? Does that not get in your way? Like, I can feel my 1x3 sometimes when I'm cutting vegetables and it can be annoying when I notice it like that. Also, what kind of coating do you have on the 3x6?
  • It hasn't bothered my banjo playing at all. But, my magnet is in my ring finger of my picking hand, which is unused. I keep meaning to wiggle my magnet around an electric guitar's pickups, but I keep forgetting whenever I'm near one.
  • It's kinda relevant, I suppose, because the piercing enhances sex. So, I added something unnatural to myself to make sex better. That's kinda biohacking and is sex related, so I thought I'd mention it if'n these folks are in dire need of sex-talking biohackers.
  • I have an apadravya. Does that count?
  • I'll try and doodle up a picture when I get a chance. It's hard to explain better than I did without pictures. But, yeah. Basically, he put the scalpel on my finger tip and pushed it down, parallel with the finger. Then he stuck the magnet in. Then, he used another magnet to move my magnet deeper into the pocket in my…
  • That looks pretty painful. I hope it heals and you don't have to pull it out and redo it. I noticed, though, most of the things I find on implanting magnets say to go into the side of the finger, like you done, but not too deep or else you'll sever the nerve and lose feeling in the finger. But, when I got my magnet…
  • It's titanium nitride coated, with an additional coating of a hard biocompatible resin of Cassox's own design. While titanium nitride should be a wonderful coating, nobody seems to have sorted out a way to address the pinhole problem it has to a satisfactory degree. That is, titanium nitride coats tend to have tiny holes…
  • I sure am. I'll send you weekly pics until it's mostly healed, and then less often as it normalizes.
  • I just had my magnet implanted. Brian Decker is awesome. He's also very interested in the coating.
  • I may have found an implanter for this weekend! He's understandably nervous about me sourcing my own magnet, but he is highly regarded in the piercing/imbedding community and he seems confident about the procedure. Some feller called Brian Decker. I'm just waiting on a confirmation email from him. I need to do more reading…
  • I received mine, yesterday. Just keep the $20 from me. Also, I'm still working on finding an implanter. I'll make some calls to some local piercing shops, but I doubt they'll be super keen on implanting something I bring in, myself. But, I'll try. There's an implanter up in Canada that's not too far from me, but it's not…
  • Awesome! I'll pm you when the magnet arrives and we'll work out a day that works out for you and I'll head north. The border crossing can be difficult, for me, but I've successfully jumped it before. I can do it again.
  • Hey Decal, I got white walls and a Hololens. Do you know any programmers?
  • That makes sense. I was thinking, after I posted, that it's certainly possible to create an electromagnet with DC. That's how coilguns work.
  • The reason that the magnet responds to ac current has nothing to do with fingerprints. AC current creates an electromagnet. What is this about fingerprints? I don't know why you would feel DC, though. That's weird.
  • @cassox I would like to buy one as well, please.
  • I was talking with some of my fellow electricians, yesterday, about biomagnets. They were pretty enthused about the idea, like myself. The ability to sense an electromagnet caused by a live AC circuit is a game changer. If this, miraculously, catches on in the industry, it will save a lot of lives. Electrocution only…
  • That makes sense. And I imagine the testing, once it gets in your hands, will take a while, too. I'm just excited because I work as an electrician and being able to feel the electromagnet caused by the alternating current could keep me from cutting a live wire. Also, patience is not one of my stronger virtues. But, I'm…
  • Hello @AlexSmith I, too, would like to be added to the list if it's not too late. I already got a piercer lined up and everything. The piercer already has some weaker magnets on order, but after reading through the forums here and the DangerousThings page, I'm just gonna wait until your magnets are ready. I trust you more…
