I did have numbers, but they were only of me running around in the California sun so I can't really draw conclusions from it. The glove was at least refreshing! I've also thought about a smaller peltier device, but didn't have the funds for it (the parts are still in my amazon cart...). The cupping is a good idea, I think.…

Hi Sophie There have been a few projects over the years. Quite a few humanities/documentary things, though I haven't seen many of the finished projects. I'm not sure how often stuff gets abandoned or if they're still in production. For soc/anth/STS, my PhD dissertation should (finally!) be done in a few months. I have a…

I hadn't done anything to damage mine that I know of, and it was still magnetic (and is to this day, even though it looks like this: https://imgur.com/a/5esup). It was from the original batch, but I only implanted it in August of 2015. I didn't notice any puss when I cut it out, so I guess I caught mine a bit earlier?
-
I also had one of the first batch and ended up cutting it out a month or two ago. It was sore (but nowhere near painful) for a while, so I figured it was dying but like you said, not super obvious. No discolouration or swelling issues, but the soreness persisted for at least a week. Once I cut it out there was a small pie…

Don't tell me what I mean!
-
Pics aren't the greatest, but it looks fine to me. I've seen some that protrude way more than that after being fully healed. The skin flaking off a few times after implanting is also normal; it happened to me, it happened to other people. If it's not puss, don't be a fuss.
-
Ha! Who is it that said 'ow'? It wasn't me ...
-
I'm also trying to wrap my head around this, because it sounds fun. For the purposes of the maze, is the 4th dimension a way of 'jumping' through 3d? I'm picturing the maze's 4th dimension as being a kind of 'intensity' that affects how you maneuver the 3 regular spatial dimensions. Am I way off?

Seacrest, you can post the side bet punchslap video if you want @mmuyskens, I have your video. It's going to take more than this mcdonalds wifi to upload it though ... I'll do it as soon as I can

Here's another attempt at a flatter shape. I only cut one side out, so it's not as pointy as the shitty looking one from a couple days ago but still won't protrude so much. I also cleaned this one up. It survived 15 hits with the hammer (max force) before one of the ends split. For whatever reason, I suck at making the…

@AlexSmith I played around with making a flatter tube today. Here are the results: It doesn't look great, but it's the first try. Normally we'd at least dremel the edges to make them smoother, but you get the idea. With a larger tube I think it could work better.
-
@AlexSmith -- I'll see if I can shape it into something usefully flatter in the next couple days. As an armour, the tests showed it worked well with about 3-4mm thickness. However, if you're thinking of putting other things in it, I think it'd be easy enough to use a larger sized tubing, cut out a couple sections, then…

I have two in my fretting hand (ring finger and thumb). The thumb causes no problems. The ring finger took a little bit getting used to but only for m7b5-type chords. It was more like getting used to a pick that's a different size. After a few minutes you make a minor adaptation and I no longer think about it. I play…

This was the first time it ever embedded automatically for me. trybalworf, try clicking here

Mine looks more or less like Ben's, but in the side of the hand.
-
Ah yes, I didn't really finish my thought there. Maybe it'd be possible to add a donut-shaped thing to the glass capsule. It could probably be pretty small. Again, this is still probably not a great solution, but maybe someone else can make it feasible?
-
Not sure if this is the best solution but it is one solution ... I think @benbeezy had a donut-shaped magnet that healed through the hole and kept it in place.
-
Mine's completely fine. It's in the side of the hand and was sutured using the mattress technique. Healed pretty much exactly like my other magnets.
-
This is amazing. Great work! Do they 'migrate' like RFIDs?
-
I finally made it home. Thanks again to everyone who made this, especially @Cassox, @cyberlass, and @Helyx. I'm already counting the days to the next one ... I just took out the mattress suture for my blood diamond mag. The not-knot side was too tight to cut, so I had to cut the knot and pull it through all 4 holes (if…
-
I can record things again if you'd like. I'm also interested in a diamond magnet.

It's too soon to say anything with confidence, but the VIP project might help with this. My reaction time on a simple test (screen changes colour, then click a mouse) improved by about 10% after administration. It was mostly back to normal by the next day, though.

I'll be there
-
No problem. I'm not sure how interesting it is for people who weren't there, but I figured it's better for those in the video to have plausible deniability than descriptive captions (though I did ask specific permission from those who were getting cut). Also, big thanks to @birdmachine for half that footage, without which…

There should be sound.

I'm really looking forward to the exosphere synthetic biology courses. Can you keep us posted when any new info comes up?
-
Sorry, I asked around about this a few weeks ago and then completely forgot to respond. From what I gathered, the only concoction anyone could recommend was ... bananas and water. I hope your stretching is going well!
-
I'm hoping to finally put a short vid of grindfest 1 together within the next couple weeks.

If you're talking about straight up contortion then you're going to need a contortion coach. I know someone who works with contortionists at/from the école nationale de cirque (cirque du soleil recruits heavily from here). If you've really hit your limit, you'll need someone who knows what they're doing (!) to literally…
