Speaking from experience, I implanted about a month before going off to college. My parents still don't know about it (coming up on a year). I just bought everything on my own and did the procedure at a friends house. Slap a band-aid over whatever closure method you use and just say you got a cut if they ask.
-
I personally did it because I use the outside edge less. Common things like holding my phone or using a computer mouse end up rubbing on the thumb side so it made sense to implant on the pinky side.
-
I went bouldering at about 6 months after a magnet implant in my right ring finger, outside edge. From what I remember it wasn't too much of an issue. Occasionally it'll get in the way while weightlifting but really only of I'm doing curls. Usually adjusting my grip fixes the issue.

Anything less than n52 is not worth it. I put in a Haworth and it’s doing great. I’d stick to Haworth and samppa if you want something easy. Anything else you need to test on your own and might be riskier. Here’s a link to a community run spreadsheet with some data:…

@Cassox you made your own magnets? What size/coating?
-
For me it was mainly lack of experience. It sounds pretty dumb now, but I was thinking that doing it one handed with a metal needle would be nearly impossible, and it would make infection a greater risk. If I do it again, I’m definitely using sutures.
-
No idea @faensii I just remembered that Haworth had some suppliers in Europe.

@Cassox Google implants- with micro gps units to better tailor your advertisements
-
I agree with @Sandra. It’ll be more expensive but they know what they’re doing.
-
I’m still healing from mine a couple weeks ago but I’ve felt the vibrations from a microwave and an electric oven. Location in your finger probably matters a decent amount too. Mine is towards the edge a bit lower down so there are fewer nerve endings there.
-
Haworths are pretty reputable. I just put one in a couple weeks ago.
-
Only if the skin doesn’t heal. Usually it would be pushed out in the first couple weeks. Look through the wiki too. There’s a lot to learn before you try implanting. It’s not quite as easy or simple as it sounds.

Since eating is a primal instinct, it might be impossible to “forget” how to be hungry. Meaning even after fasting for several years you could go straight back to a normal eating cycle. The hypothalamus controls hunger and is located in the core of your brain. That would make it less flexible than say, the cortex which…
-
The way you handle it psychologically would be interesting too. Going from eating daily to never eating could really mess up some pathways in the brain.

I used hair ties a couple days ago for an hour long procedure. Every 20 minutes I cut one off and bled for a minute just to keep circulation going. I was worried about bruising at the end but after about 30 minutes everything was back to normal. Hair ties were definitely the way to go (for me at least). Bleeding the whole…

@Cassox http://stevehaworth.com/magnetic-faq/ “Those magnets were dip coated, and the bubble shape that caused irregularly covered the pill-shaped magnets. The second generation magnets are evenly coated via injection molding. These magnets have now been in use since 2006, and have not been subject to the same failures.”…

Alright. You might have to remind me in September. I’ll probably forget

Thanks

If you were fine waiting a few months till I get back to college, I could also forward a package from the US to you.

What do you call a sidelined biohacker?

@Cassox Confirmed. Use bench grinder to prepare magnets.

One of my favorite insults.

Thanks

What is the vitamin-b for? I'm implanting soon and trying to learn as much about after care as possible :)

In terms of magnets, the newer haworth (https://store.stevehaworth.com/collections/magnets) ones are better coated due to injection molding (the old ones were dip coated) and easy to buy. I have one on the way right now. The Super magnet man (SMM:https://supermagnetman.com/products/d1005b-10-tin?variant=12239757279348 I…

@Sandra What magnet do you have?
-
And on top of that, coating the small ones would be problematic. Easiest would probably be silicone, but that would be so thick relative to the size of the magnet that most sensitivity would drop.

There are also topical anesthetics you can get from amazon or a pharmacy that will help.
