  • I'd skip that and just lie to the NHS- they have so many ridiculous rules and regulations. I got turned away because I've had multiple sex partners and sex with same gender partners, and then drilled because I had track marks just after getting out of the hospital. If you know you're safe to give blood, then you're safe.…
  • Also, if you're going to have somebody else do it for you- most of the professionals charge insane prices. If I remember correctly, it was something along the lines of 200 dollars a finger?
  • the problems involved with infections are basically cleanliness problems. Anytime you deal with cutting yourself open, you have a chance of infection- especially if you plan to surgically modify anything. Piercings and tattoos, done by the most experienced professional have the chances to get infected. And we're going a…
  • I've posted this link several times, but find it highly relevant here.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SFPbjKyReY
  • Enough light to read would be more than enough. I've seen UV tattoos, and they're pretty damn cool, but aren't what this is about. The link though, is awesome. Seen it before, but totally forgot about it. I remember somebody mentioning a mini-flashlight type mod, that would be implanted into your fingertip. It would be…
  • http://gizmodo.com/#!5403676/becoming-a-sexual-cyborg-nsfw its gizmodo, but still an entertaining article.
  • I'd be interested in a compiled list of human resources. Knowing who has done what projects, has experience, professional or otherwise and is available for consultation would be extremely valuable. Whether a new thread was started or a wiki article, just having something there would be nice. Edit: thinking about it, this…
  • @DirectorX No worries about copyrights. The vitruvian man has no copyright protection and is in the public domain. http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=257190 ::EDIT:: I really like that Splicer. Reminds me of the character, Locutus (look it up if you don't know).
  • It would be nice if there was an organized display of biohacking symbols on the table that are being contemplated as the site symbol. Honestly, I wouldn't be offended if this site vetoed all of our ideas to adopt a symbol of their own. That symbol would represent biohack.me, while whatever symbol I adopt for myself will…
  • In the locations that you want the haptic radar, wouldn't it be nye-useless if you put a shirt on? I highly recommend speaking with ThomasEgi, if you can get on irc #biohack channel.
  • @SixEcho- Syringes can normally be picked up at farm supply stores. I know in the US that lidocaine is by prescription only (whether its for a person or an animal), but you should check your country's laws. Personally, I'm mail ordering from a country with less strict regulations on the drugs I want- and hopefully customs…
  • for magnets-6gauge piercing needlesbottle of bleachbottle of isopropyl alcoholragscotton ballsbandagessmall bowlhigh strength super glue for larger implants, I intend to replace the 6gauge piercing needles with something more appropriate for larger cuts, like a scalpel. I also do all of my work either over an easy to clean…
  • My bad- definitely the wrong topic for that post. Interesting nonetheless.
  • I was just thinking about the issue of transdermal, and I remembered metal Mohawk Joe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SFPbjKyReY
  • Not a professional opinion, but I totally approve of using super glues to seal wounds. When I was a kid, I was big into table-top strategy games (warhammer, warhammer 40k) and you use an easily dulled x-acto knife to cut the miniatures out of their sprues and shave mold leaks off of the models. I couldn't tell you the…
  • The cynic in me says sharing a single YouTube channel is a bad idea. Too much reliance and necessary trust. Instead, somehow set one volunteer up for control of the YouTube channel, or create a subscription network between proxy accounts- so that spammers/douchebags can be easily cut out if there is an issue and new…
  • I like this. :D
  • Sugru adds some definite girth to the implant. Its difficult to get it thin without compromising the coating. I'd definitely recommend purchasing pre-bioproofed hardware when possible, especially when it comes to installing magnets in your fingers.
  • That brings up an interesting point. Remain philosophically neutral? Say fuck it? Is it even possible to be neutral when it comes to this topic? One of my friends from my 'I wanna be a piercer' phase was disgusted by the idea of implanting magnets in my fingers. This was the girl I did most of my personal piercing practice…
  • Whats the purpose of the extra pinky? The few people I know with an extra finger aren't benefitted by it- seems more of an inconvenience and only barely functional.
  • Just got a response from Nathan of Feeling Waves, thought I'd share. "Glad to hear you are interested. The implant hasn't given me any trouble at all. The biggest obstacle to healing seems to be keeping the magnet in place. Since the coating is "slippery," it will move around until the skin heals around it. Since the…
  • @mrwzrd that is merely for my comfort. I've done a lot of body modification under the influence of various substances and found it helps to have a clear head and stomach when it comes to piercing. Update on status- i feel kinda lame. Waiting to coerce a friend to do it for me meaning definite video. Excuse the fact that…
  • I definitely intend to put at least 1 stitch in each hole- gauge 8 is pretty huge. Plus a bandaid around each finger :) I'll do what I can for video Final photo before implanting the magnets- The sugru definitely adds some bulk to the magnet x_x I tried emailing Nate, but he hasn't responded and its been almost a week if I…
  • I'd love to include a video, only problem is finding a friend not too squeamish to watch me cut open my fingers AND record it from various angles ;p I'll definitely aim for it though. Wont know anything definite until tomorrow afternoon/evening. Added update- added a layer of sugru around the magnets. You have to work…
  • Okay, cool. Thanks for the added explanation. This is an open community on the internet- makes some of us (me included) more defensive. @John_NY sorry about that :\ If somebody could write a proper explanation as to why the neodymium implants work, that would be awesome. Apparently, what I've pieced together has been…
  • @John_ny are you trolling or should we take you seriously?
  • I honestly don't know. It sounds like the coating doesn't matter but something in the back of my head is saying that it does. Something along the lines that gold is a very effective conductor, to help strengthen the generated electric field. But it should work just fine without the gold coat. I'm just a first year biochem…
  • Here you got directorx, it looks good btw.
  • To my surprise, the needles arrived today. I would definitely recommend the site linked above ;p A comparison of the needle, magnet, and my index finger. If I were to reorder the needles, I might get a gauge somewhere in the range of 8-10 next time. These would work excellently for bigger implants in areas like the arm.
  • https://www.piercingpros.com/ were the only company that had a relatively professional website, had gauge 6 needles, and sold in orders <$20 that I could find. I'll be taking pictures of the needles when they arrive, and try to get a friend to help photo-document the procedure. They should be arriving before the 22nd, so…
