  • Quantum, I'm in Orlando lol. Whereabouts in central florida?
  • I was watching a Ted talk on biomedical nanotechnology not too long ago. There seems to be a lot of room for growth there. We're thinking nanobots, ones that could monitor your health and notify you of any health abnormalities. You would still need to see a doctor if something's wrong, but at least you would have a better…
  • i would question getting one if you are looking into a job that's physically demanding. For example, would pull-ups or any other strenuous use of your hands cause a magnet in your finger to move? What if it breaks and you're sidelined from training? It's a risk.
  • I think that if there is any real gain from human performance it would be in training. Learning and repeating drills faster and more efficiently. The author pointed out the minimal effects of increasing an army's effectiveness as opposed to just increasing the size? just think for a second the implications of the…
  • Orlando here. And Virginia beach sounds nice
  • This might be a bit far reaching, but what about a contact lense with an led that blinks every 30 seconds? Similar to the neuromancer character "molly" who has a digital time display on her implanted eye piece. Link: http://spectrum.ieee.org/biomedical/bionics/augmented-reality-in-a-contact-lens…
  • What I find really interesting is the plethora of ideas people have for the suit to skin interface. There are quite a few ways of doing this, and thanks @Jupiter for the "pain" vs "touch" explanation. Are there any other ideas on suit to skin interface, ore more specifically how to stimulate the specific nerves in the skin…
  • While the above videos provide insight as to what is out there and in developement, I'm looking specifically at the ability to touch other users through VR and also have partial control of their movements (like a real life version of Windows remote assistance).
  • It might be worth a shot. I've ordered from that website before, but only once (when they had nsi 189). I'd be curious if any testing has been done with human subjects in an academic setting. And I say that because a few of my computer engineering classmates smoke. A lot.
  • There is the nootropics route, or the "train harder" route. There is a blog called "the bioneer" where both of these topics are discussed. I believe the author also has a YouTube channel where he reviews supplements and nootropics.
  • I'm curious as to anyone on this forum has also tried GABA supplement. I realize there is a lack of evidence for the supplement crossing the blood brain barrier. However, since taking half a teaspoon per night I feel more relaxed at night and wide awake in the early morning. It could be placebo, but, in my experience It…
  • @JohnDoe, Why not a degree in biomedical engineering? The right school and right program make all the difference (albeit tuition varies with location). Assuming cost is no obstacle, a college with plentiful research capabilities is ideal second to having the right program. You'll have access to labs, equipment, etc.
  • At the moment I'm looking into internships that lead to a job after I graduate. That seems the conventional way to go about it. I'm hoping something aerospace, at the cape, but realistically, anything engineering to get my foot in the door @Jthomas99
  • @jthomas99, we have a team here at UCF that did a highly publicized prosthetic outreach. You can google "limbitless solutions". I met one of their members last semester, but lost touch with him. I'll poke around again and network. Also, limbitless does seem a mechanical engineering focused team, but after talking to this…
  • @Jthomas99, so far it's challenging but do-able. I'm in the middle of electrical networks courses which by far are the most important for an EE major. Lot's of Laplace transforms and differential equations. There's also a bit of materials science and chem with semiconductors. I have a ways to go though, I've only just…
  • @Jthomas99 , I honestly chose Engineering for the starting salary. Later on I took interest in biohacking, albeit a passive interest. What school are you taking your Master's at?
  • I'm also an undergrad in EE @bciuser. While I considered a minor in biotech , I decided against it because of how behind I would be in biology courses; however I am taking biotech electives available to double E students. My school has a synthetic biology club which does relate to biohacking. I think as a masters student…
  • There are a lot of Reddit posts with mixed results. I'm looking for increased memory retention (short term). @galticus , Do you recommend buying from blue brain boost ?
  • Can anyone confirm if this is a reliable site to purchase from? https://www.bluebrainboost.com/p/nsi-189/ Thanks!
  • Nat, I stumbled across a website called "the bioneer": http://www.thebioneer.com/category/fitnessbodybuilding/ He has a YouTube channel with videos as well where he goes into detail about supplements and nootropics. It might be worth checking out, although he seems more partial to bodybuilding.
