  • oh geez, that was a heck of a wild video :O I agree on trying to avoid the sensory feedback for a bit longer as it continues to heal further. Though, it's pretty fun to find the surprise clouds of 'fuzzyness' where they weren't just days ago :) And sorry for being particularly salty. It was meaner than I intended, my bad.…
  • jfc, this might need to be in some hall of fame along with the mushroom computer, along the lines of "Don't be this kid" -.- Seriously. Irresponsible bloodbaths like this could kill you, and bring the entire community down with you should some zealous regulation types decide your mistakes have made this whole thing too…
  • oh gosh, it still needs a good heap of mobile style love. So tablet and phone views will be.... wonky most likely. But It's on the road to fix :) Thank you! I'm hoping to bring a good amount of those style senses onto the discourse theme in the next few days. It is planned to be a separate section, but instead of landing…
  • Exactly why it's my example as, well, a bad approach :p I'm guessing rum would be even worse, given the sugars in it? I mean, worse relatively.
  • In all seriousness though, definitely keep a very close eye out for infection. Do you have plans to document the healing? Like, a picture a day or so? Infection risk aside, I have a feeling the depth will make a rough heal. It'll be interesting to see how it progresses.
  • You're sure it's clean? So, you did involve some form of sterilization, right? Sterilization more effective than fire and vodka? I get that not every grind is going to be perfect, and most of us here are working with limited resources. I personally /adore/ that facet of many of the projects here. But please, for the sake…
  • Definitely tweakable. a Dash of css can hide that no problem :) I'm also gonna see if I can find anything RE adjusting the activity display. Having the days is nice, but the date would be really useful too.
  • I'll definitely be in on this! Direct flights between Boston and Austin aren't ridiculously priced :D Also up for room sharing. I can sleep pretty much anywhere so I don't mind a crowded room. Is there anything specific to this con we should bring or plan for?
  • Not sure what he's going on about, as they've been successfully implanted multiple times across multiple people. Did he give you the play by play on how Saamppa does his production, sealing, sterilizing, and what steps he might take to make them somehow less prone to infection than any other kind of implant? Cause if not,…
  • Yours lost magnetism too? Interesting! Mine did as well, though I don't see any signs of a breach. Still trying to get around to pulling it, but I have the chemical compounds to test for any breaches after. My paralines, which I got some time before, have also stood up pretty well and continue to serve me well. I'm…
  • Looks like I've got plenty of auditory ways to keep up with things while at my day job :) Looking forward to listening!
  • Ightden, I'm currently exploring the tragus magnet not as a way to pass standard music or full audio output to, but specific burst of tonal frequency. So far I've had excellent luck using a nearby inductor in place of a large necklace coil. I have one in each tragus, and I have tested running basic melodies from an arduino…
  • One option would be to use something similar to the bottlenose... If you place an inductor near/over/pointing at a magnet implanted in the tragus, and then send a tone through it like you would a standard piezio speaker, you'll be able to hear the tone pretty clearly. I've only been testing out sending basic notes and…
  • That's basically how I plan to remove one of mine soon. It's already pretty shallow so I don't think I'll need to make a deep slice. Starting with a small incision sounds like the best idea, since you can always make it just a little bigger with a scalpel but you can't make it smaller if you go and carve out a big chunk.…
  • That's what it sounds like, Zerbula. I don't think using something like the bottlenose would work here... you'd need a really strong ER field to break down that connected tissue. Though, massaging at scar tissue can help break that down over time I hear, so maybe it would be like a similar slow-and-steady massage from…
  • Don't want to discourage chat regarding non-implantable methods of enhancement, but insisting to a collection of people who enjoy building, theorizing, and working with implants that 'just so we know' they're not necessary.... We know. We can live without them. But that's not what this is about :) Original question was…
  • Glad you got the video! Thanks for sharing :D also really glad it sounds like it's been healing quite well?
  • I AM in the process of exploring what it'll take to make a useful member, lab, and collective directory :) What kind of things do ya'll think would make it useful? Just installed a Map functionality so labs/collectives can display both their location, and where members are all from (it has fuzzy options, so you can just…
  • I also had an Xperia, Also had issues getting that tag to read. I remember getting it to work on a super rare occasion here and there, but otherwise it was pretty much useless with the z3 (which is a shame, because I was otherwise quite fond of that phone!) Also agreeing with the swelling situation. There's a good chance…
  • Gindfest is in the spring, so for the sake of spreading out travel budgets I will definitely vote autumn :)
  • That's been there for some time I think, and I agree it's quite annoying. One of the many things that should be fixed in the new form rollout (which is still ongoing, I promise!)
  • There's been talk about getting the whole East Coast out to Virginia beach, but as far as a smaller NE specific plan, we have a few options. Might be nice to pool resources and grab some kind of remote space in NH every once in a while. Lots of space to work with and little outside noise. That's more of like a full weekend…
  • Sadly there's no shop in Boston that will. Anything implant related in the state of MA is exclusively reserved for medical practitioners. Had to go to NH for my first few, and even then it was pretty hush hush as regulations are the same there. Though, I mean a bunch of friends just getting together and hanging out and not…
  • I am all about this! I've got at /least/ a year to go till I can find some kinda hosting space for the NE sadly... but getting more in person action is a great way to keep projects going! And Virginia Beach sounds like a pretty rad place :D
  • Magnets are certainly viable as a switch system! There's a number of different sensors that can pick up on the magnetic field, so building a low powered sensing system to fully wake on signal is doable.
  • @meanderpaul Any luck with the folder contents? Is it working for anyone else?
  • You might need to import the library still. If you download the repo as a zip, you can go toSketch > Include Library > add .zip library, And it'll be added to your library, and also add two examples under "Examples from Custom Libraries" in your file menu. I'm not 100% sure if the older versions of arduino use the same…
  • :D Correct on how the bottlenose works with fields. The general idea is to produce a field the magnet picks up and reacts to. Then you can feed information to this magnet from either sensors or other data sources (hello morse code!). Weather or not a device will interfere depends solely on the strength and proximity o the…
  • Sadly I didn't get yours. Oversight on my part, sorry! I only got the neck placement. I'll need to make sure to get more faces (and limbs, appendages, blood, etc) next time around.
  • I have some here! You might see some semi dupes... I included both original files AND ones I've run through some editing :) I also have a potential implant video, but I wanna cross some T's and dot some I's and verify things with it before sharing. Meanwhile, enjoy! Note to self next year: More pictures of the actual…
