  • @Zerbula Never had it as a pill, but have taken kava as a drink before, slight numbing of the lips (and sometimes tingling in fingers/toes in larger doses). Very calming, very relaxing, however I was warned to avoid taking it with alcohol, not sure if that would apply to smaller doses tho.

  • I started modafinil a month ago, working great, but it super charges the effects of caffeine, you have to be so careful with preworkout supplements.
  • @ightden Healthy skepticism, I approve. I think the product is just a basic supplement, nothing you cant already get under a hundred different brands. Which raises the question... Elysium has a lot of respected scientists, and a lot of venture capital, is this really all they'll be doing or are they just releasing it to…
  • @Birdhandz Toxicity is tricky there are many chemicals that are non toxic even when swallowed but become toxic introduced to the blood. The other side of that the ink may break down if used in a tattoo - Human skin has it's own salts, oils and acidity to content with. A tattoo is also deeper in the skin than ink on the…
  • @Birdhandz yes thats the one. I was not thinking of using that specific ink in a tattoo but raising the idea of something similar - obviously it would need to be non toxic and it's switch points would need to be closer to human tolerance. But it might be interesting to draw on the skin and do some tests I think the heat…
  • My phenylpiracetam order from powder city came last week so I must have just snuck in. A shame because I found the prices and service good and have no complaints on the product quality.
  • There are also inks that trigger with thermal variations, for instance you can buy note books that can be re-used often simply by putting them in the microwave for 30 seconds - all the text is erased. Actually the text is still there, the ink just goes clear, putting it in the freezer brings it back. A tattoo that you…
  • I know this might be a side track but has anyone considered looking at leaving the pain receptors to function and adjusting the perception of pain instead? I understand people with chronic pain can use meditation to help block the pain - a practice in neuroscience known as cognitive self-regulation. I've also read studies…
  • Really interested in getting a v2 flat tritium implanted, thinking the back of my right hand or purlicue. I was thinking the skin is not too thick and the effect should be pretty good... Any suggestions? @AlexSmith is there a mailing list I can be added to for product updates?
  • I think it's less about display in the contact lens, and more about monitor things like blood sugar levels via the lacrimal fluid (tears/eye lubricant). Diabetics could have a phone app that could check your blood sugar wirelessly... thats awesome. I was thinking that you could make tiny sensors you could around muscles…
  • @Aeris There's lots of resources online... What sort of start are you looking for? My own design is for "sub" micro system, rather than a single micro tank of 50L to 100L capacity for the fish I am trying to build a system of networked tanks each with only 2L-3L capacity so it can be built to make use of unused space in a…
  • @Cassox I'm late to the thread but responding to your original idea list: 1) Biomes - I'm actually quite interested in this and have been working on a plan for vertical gardens that can be housed inside window frames. I've settled on aquaponics as the best way to create a semi closed system and now I'm researching what…
  • Update for anyone interested... Attaching to the fingernail: Worked well and glue held for 48hrs (if I could avoid playing with at it) - sensation was almost non existent with a 3x1 mm magnet, but noticeable with a 3x6 mm.I was able to get a much stronger attachment by adding a scaffold (heavy gauze) which was still stable…
  • Just thinking of other possible solutions to the transdermal problem... Could a transdermal be wrapped in a pocket of skin? with perhaps a small patch of transplanted tissue from the inside of the cheek or other mucus membrane in order to generate a small but constant outward flow of fluid for self cleaning purposes? I'm…
  • @Aeris I've experimented with glueing to the nail, and skin (tip/end of finger). The nail gives much less sensation. Both have the problem that the glue does not last long and after a few days it will come off. Make sure you clean and dry the nail (or skin) really well before glueing or the glue will fail in a matter of…
  • @Zerbula, The nature of most extrusion (FDM) 3d printing methods means very irregular surfaces (air pockets etc) so getting the item fully clean would be very tricky, plus the nature of the material is that it looses integrity at high temperatures, not just the material itself but also the layer adhesion. Even moderate…
  • @Cassox, I'm in Oz but happy to discuss my medical stats in PM if distance is not a problem and you still need controls. I had planned to start NSI-189 and tDCS soon but I can pause them for a while in the name of science :)
  • @Benbeezy I was thinking about the problem of force, any solution will require increased power but it might help if you moved away from traditional vibrators (which are simply unbalanced flywheels on small motors) and go to an oscillating solenoid... There is a kickstarter for a wearable sub woofer that seems to use that…
  • While the plastic itself would be upwards of 210 degrees for much longer than needed to sterilize it I would suggest treating the print bed before printing to prevent any possible transfer. Also, even small prints can take a while so the plastic is cooled and left exposed to the air and dust for some time while the rest of…
  • @BirdMachine, I'm surprised you don't get asked about it more.
  • My components are slowly arriving (ebay is cheap but slow) so I'm taking the time to add to my research about the various montages and what I want to try.
  • @onlytworoads I totally agree, If humans have a magnetosense its obviously not something demonstrably useful or it would have been proved long before now. I posted the link more for interest than anything else. Understanding it might in future allow us to turn it into something useful, but for right now if we want…
  • @onlytworoads http://www.sciencealert.com/scientist-claims-he-s-discovered-a-magnetic-sixth-sense-in-humans I like the idea of a vibrating implant but a constant signal would draw a lot more power.
  • @mmuyskens thnx, so size alone would seem to be enough to stop detection for the little implants. Still wondering about bigger implants like the northpaw... Also I'm assuming travelling with a nootropic stack could raise some eyebrows.
  • @Dragon5 I'm just guessing here, I assumed that the purpose of using two vibrator motors was to get more movement, plus an implant can be closer to the core as it were. Maybe @DirectorX can help clarify placement of his implant?
  • I've seen vendors on ebay selling NSI-189, am I stepping into dangerous ground buying there? I'm in Aus so the local markets are a little more "restrictive".
  • I couldn't help myself... language may have been humours, but it was serious feedback. Also after writing that I got wondering if the pitch of the vibration would be something you could change, possibly sync with an audio signal... [LINK] I mean if we're implanting for play rather than to recover basic functionality why…
  • @dlzr Sorry for the short response my train of thought skipped a track... I meant... Position detection rather than multiple scan points. I stopped myself writing more until I got some research and reading done. Only 3 sensors would be needed for spatial positioning of a tag with hopefully a greater resolution than a 2 by…
  • Well if you shake the base of the tree then the whole tree shakes right? But yes, I guess your partner would only feel the full effect if they were riding all the way down to the trunk. A lot like the little vibrating magic rings you can buy. Of course those have the added advantage of um... "extending duration". The…
  • @Gamerein Yes, yes I did.
