Wireless Charging Through Skin

I've been working with Arduino since some time around the fifth grade, and I'm constantly looking for advancements in the technology that would make an Arduino computer more viable for implantation. One of the main problems to deal with is charging an implanted device, but recently there have been lots of wireless charging/induction pads popping up for use with Arduino. At this point in time they're all still very large, so they're not practical, but I was wondering about the viability of wireless charging through the skin. An iPhone will not start charging if your hand is between it and the Qi pad, but I'm almost 100% sure that this is just because the pad is programmed to not recognize the phone from that distance and not because the charging pad can't reach that far. Does anyone have any ideas about whether or not one would be able to wirelessly charge an implanted computer?
