I would imagine all that would be left would be similar to dietary fibre, which by itself would be like cardboard. :P

Is this how DIY biohackers were able to produce their own insulin? Sorry if this is a dumb question; I'm new to the community.

no as far as i know there is a strain of modified bacteria that produce insulin
