Greetings everyone!
Dear all,
My name is Marko and I'm an electrical engineering student from Croatia. I got involved with research on some implantable electronic devices through my masters thesis, and during that time I started to realise how poorly developed those technologies are and that there is a huge amount of work to do in this area. What I worked on were basic solutions for wireless power and communication for simple sensors such as pressure and temperature monitors (nothing particularly fancy from transhumanist point of view). My current interests gravitate towards far more extreme research, such as development of neural interfaces with far higher resolutions than currently available, working toward a dream 1:1 electrical interfaces between neural units and outside world. I would call this my main interest, although I'm quite curious about many other topics discussed on this site as well.
However, as I delved deeper and deeper into this research, I became exceedingly frustrated with my lack of understanding of basic biology which may be much more accessible to some other members of this site. I was really happy to run into this site since in the past it was quite hard to find a forum or web community of hobbyists with strong interest in biology or neuroscience compared to countless electronics sites. In any case, please excuse me in advance for asking too many ridiculous biology related questions :)
I'm currently rather busy with finishing my thesis for now, though I'm going to try participating in some threads in meanwhile. After it's done in a month or so, I'll try to publish and share my thesis results as well.
And for the end, just a curious question - who started all of this transhumanist rage around the internet in recent years? It's a really new thing to me and I never expected hobbies to go in this direction. It would be nice to see if some good quality science could emerge from them over time.
Regards -
Marko

Greetings! You say "...development of neural interfaces with far higher resolutions than currently available, working toward a dream 1:1 electrical interfaces between neural units and outside world." This is exactly what I want to do with my life. I'm just getting into basic college courses now; could you tell me what courses I will need to take and what I should be studying?

Welcome, it's good to have more people with your skills here, our MEA project may be relevant to your interests, you should check out the thread.
