Hematite, magnetite and maghemite
The wikipedia article says maghemite is used in biomedicine because it is biocompatible and non-toxic. I don't know enough about this material to hazard any guesses but I have questions.
Would any of these materials make suitable implants? Would they last long? Would they be toxic in large doses, say, as an implant? Could they coat more toxic materials such as Nd? Could they be used as "invisible" subdermal anchors for things hanging magnets at the location? Could they ever replace Nd implants?
There are my thoughts, rip them to shreds.
