DOUBLE AND TRIPLE COATING GLOSS COAT?

Hello,

Of course I know "it's not nessesary" is the usual answer to these types of questions, but is there any benefit to double or triple coating gloss coat? I've noticed some detailers offering this service. I'm guessing increased durability is unlikely, but is there a difference in appearance?

    I guess if you scratch whatever you're double coating it'll be less visible and less likely to scratch through all the layers, leaving a slight indent but the same colour. However I doubt it'll do that as all the layers are rather thin.
    It should at least protect you from very minor scratches.
