The biohack.me forums were originally run on Vanilla and ran from January 2011 to July 2024. They are preserved here as a read-only archive. If you had an account on the forums and are in the archive and wish to have either your posts anonymized or removed entirely, email us and let us know.

While we are no longer running Vanilla, Patreon badges are still being awarded, and shoutout forum posts are being created, because this is done directly in the database via an automated task.

Grinder reading list

If there isn't already one, can we compile a reading list that covers subjects ranging from the basic idea of biohacking to tech, techniques, and sciences that some of us may not have gone to school for?

  1. An anatomy textbook would be good.

Last's Anatomy (9th ed) is what I'd recommend given that's what is used to set the surgical exam. That though will need to be combined with a more visual textbook - Rohen I heard is good. I use Netter though, which while got pretty pictures isn't quite the same as cadavar photos.
  2. *brief initial googling of things* of varying quality --
practice app for mobile for surgery
    microsurgery practice models
5 low tech ways surgeons have trained
    101 Sources for Biohacks

an earlier post on this forum with reading suggestions
    Biohacker's Handbook
    Beginners Guide To Biohacking
  3. Dr sleepless needs to be on this list, since you know, it's where the name grinder comes from after all.

The cyborg manifesto is pretty alright also
  4. Here are a few books. Some of them are recent releases.
    • Mark O' Connell (To be a machine)
    • Adam Piore (The Body Builders)
    • Miguel Nicolelis (Beyond Boundaries)
    • Zhavoronkov, Alex, (The ageless generation)
    • MacManus, Richard. (Health trackers)
