GF4 - You're doing so good.
Ok, so I think everyone had a blast at 3. Man, we only actually did like 1/2 of what was planned and it was still super busy. So this next year I want to seriously focus on projects. I figure that we should treat it primarily as an open lab with lots of educational opportunities. Make sure to bring along anything you're working on. I want to have a new device completed before then and I'd like to be able to instruct people regarding the entire sequence.. how to make the device.. how to program it... how to implant it. So we've talked many times about an alarm implant. This is going to be my focus. I have some pacemaker electrodes coming which I'm going to use in order to determine the best signals to serve as an alarm. It's going to be fun.

In terms of a theme.. I'm leaving it wide open. I'd like to put focus on food actually. Cyberlass took care of damn near all the logistic this last year and did a fantastic job. This year, I'd like to have intent behind it. I'm working on a Biohacker Nutrition guide right now. I'm going to try to tie in each meal to make a narrative out of it. If anyone wants to take responsibility for a meal let me know.

I figure after dinner each night, we'll have one event. Everyone seemed super into the knife fights so I'm going to make an updated version of it. I also want to make a maze like killhouse so we can actually put the paintball guns to use. I'd like to re-explore some of the events from GF2, like the ganzfeld stimulator etc. Maybe another round of "Secret Satan?" Another idea I have is to have a serious set up for star gazing. The stars are fantastic in the desert and it's a good excuse to sit out in the dark and bullshit with lasers. I'm going to try to make a gigantic super hammock.

Other potential things... there's a lake really close by. If there were enough people with Aquatic projects we could go out an have a little bbq one night. We could have a breath holding contest where we pre-administer o2 etc. Let me know if you've got any projects in mind for something like this. I for one have always wanted to do a liquid breathing project -

But getting back to the point.. I really want to get some serious work done this next year and the best time to start is now. If you have any projects you'd like to start collaborating on now with the intent of having complete and implanted within a year.. please jump in.
Scihouse: Makerspace and Biohacking lab now open! Fri, 02 Jun 2017 14:27:32 -0700 chironex 2044@/discussions
In the bio/chem space, for the time being we'll be doing mostly macrobio, but we'll be adding microbio, genetics and nanotech as we get more equipment. In terms of electronics we've already got a bunch of radio equipment as well as all the usual arduino/ raspberrypi stuff and little components. And of course we have a 3d printer. It's a very pretty delta for those curious.

Not only will we be able to provide all this to the local community, it also gives us a chance to finish a lot of the work we already started. We'll be doing a massive amount of work in bioremediation, biomaterials and nanomaterials. You've already seen the leather materials we've been making using bacteria and we've got a lot more stuff like that in the pipeline. Beyond that there are some huge pieces of contaminated land that we've been eyeing for some major bioremeidation projects. And of course lots of fun genetics/nano projects in the works as well.

To help expand our tool library and to help maintain the space we already have, we recently started a gofundme campaign. We would really appreciate any and all support at any level you feel comfortable. Even if that's just sharing it around.

That's all for now. If any of ya'll are in Florida, feel free to drop by and see the space or come work on some projects!

Grinders in BERLIN ? Fri, 07 Apr 2017 07:57:34 -0700 Replayer1982 1999@/discussions
i am searching "Grinders" or Biohack-Fans in BERLIN right now, cause i am shooting for a Documentary about people and their lives in Berlin... - would be cool, if anybody has maybe time or an idea about good contacts in Berlin... Thanx a lot :)

first / self intro post Tue, 04 Apr 2017 22:12:17 -0700 katngreen 1997@/discussions
I am sort of a newbie to biohacking in most respects, although as a transgender woman (mtf) I've been on hormone replacement therapy about 6 years now, so in a sense I've hacked my biology, although it has definitely been done before :). I am slightly curious about all kinds of stuff, and so I'm mostly lurking and occasionally commenting for now I can't promise much. I do take a handful of supplements, lion's mane for memory and anxiety and I'm trying to add creatine into my routine although its arguable what benefit it might have since I'm not working out as much as I'd like. I'd be interested in things related to feminizing my physique to what extent those even exist or work. I'm also loosely interested in: stuff to do with overcoming phobias and anxiety, intelligence, lifespan, motor coordination, sensory or strength augmentations (etc - I am pretty sure most people here secretly want to be superheroes;)), but again I'm gonna be kinda cautious. Mostly I notice that I do tend to buy supplements every now and again and I'm realizing that I exercise basically not enough rigor in evaluating them and would like to start doing so, I think possibly some kind of subdermal might be cool at some point, and I thought this might be an interesting forum to hang out on:) Thanks folks!
Email from Cloudflare Sat, 25 Feb 2017 06:02:03 -0800 BirdMachine 1957@/discussions

Dear Cloudflare Customer:

Thursday afternoon, we published a blog post describing a memory leak caused by a serious bug that impacted Cloudflare's systems. If you haven't yet, I encourage you to read that post on the bug:

While we resolved the bug within hours of it being reported to us, there was an ongoing risk that some of our customers' sensitive information could still be available through third party caches, such as the Google search cache.

Over the last week, we've worked with these caches to discover what customers may have had sensitive information exposed and ensure that the caches are purged. We waited to disclose the bug publicly until after these caches could be cleared in order to mitigate the ability of malicious individuals to exploit any exposed data.

In our review of these third party caches, we discovered data that had been exposed from approximately 150 of Cloudflare's customers across our Free, Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans. We have reached out to these customers directly to provide them with a copy of the data that was exposed, help them understand its impact, and help them mitigate that impact.

Fortunately, your domain is not one of the domains where we have discovered exposed data in any third party caches. The bug has been patched so it is no longer leaking data. However, we continue to work with these caches to review their records and help them purge any exposed data we find. If we discover any data leaked about your domains during this search, we will reach out to you directly and provide you full details of what we have found.

To date, we have yet to find any instance of the bug being exploited, but we recommend if you are concerned that you invalidate and reissue any persistent secrets, such as long lived session identifiers, tokens or keys. Due to the nature of the bug, customer SSL keys were not exposed and do not need to be rotated.

Again, if we discover new information that impacts you, we will reach out to you directly. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Matthew Prince

Cloudflare, Inc.

Co-founder and CEO

TL;DR: "your domain is not one of the domains where we have
discovered exposed data in any third party caches" as of now. While this is good news, I still would encourage a password reset. Once the new site goes live we will need to reset everyone's password as is, so keep this in mind while choosing one for the interim. Also keep in mind that while our domain might not have been found in the breach yet, if you use the same password elsewhere, it could have still been breached elsewhere.
*UPDATED* DELAYED - NEW WEBSITE GO-LIVE Thu, 16 Feb 2017 15:25:05 -0800 cyberlass 1942@/discussions
Sorry to write it but there is a delay

There was an update that did not play nice with our ability to import the data. The Go-Live has been pushed back a couple of days while Mmuyskens, BirdMachine, tekniklr and other kind tech souls to lend a hand to figure out the best fix. If you want to help, jump into the #website Slack channel. More updates as we make progress.

New Website Go-Live is TBD
We are switching to new forums software which has a different look and a (finally!) mobile friendly platform. The threads on this site will be locked down and then the migration will take place. Once complete we will flip over to the new site and everyone can settle in.

All user accounts will be migrated over, however each user will need to:
* Do a password reset to set their password on the new system
* Upload an avatar picture if they want one (we aren’t able to bring them over)
The wiki content will be moved over to a basic wiki. The community can then clean it up and make use of real wiki formatting.

But we aren't stopping with this release, upcoming features (2017-2018):
* QA site (Stack Overflow style) * Project boards * Groups pages * Resources list

A big thanks to Bird and Mmuyskens, their skills and generous donation of time and materials is what has made this happen.

Thanks also to everyone who contributed, tested and pitched in to keep things moving, including Meanderpaul, BoboTheEpic, Zwytechhacker, JohnDoe, Jupiter, TheGreyKnight, Alex, Jack, rpyka, TimmyCNinja, and AmosKamal. (I apologize if I missed anyone)
Exosphere academy: for when just talking about this stuff isn't good enough Mon, 29 Aug 2016 19:32:41 -0700 chironex 1703@/discussions For those that don't know, exosphere is a sort of alternative to the usual university non sense. Instead of lecture and essay's, we give you the tools you need to do actual science and then you spend the rest of the time doing actual science. There are a bunch of different streams that focus on different things. This time, glims was leading the biohacking stream where we learnt the fundamentals of real lab work and then set about working towards completing various projects of our choosing. We've got people working on all sorts of awesome things; trauma foam for gunshot victims, biodegradable cigarette filters, using chitosan to make biodegradable plastic materials, cleaning river pollution with banana peels and plastic eating fungi and so much more. We also made our own wine and ferments (pickled kiwis may be my new favorite thing, and my spiced mead was delicious), did a bunch of microbiological work and learnt how to troubleshoot on the fly. Honestly, it's been an absolute blast.

And best of all it looks like the next program will be even better. The program is moving from chile to brazil and Glims and I will each be running our own streams. We'll also be working together in the lab we're building so there will be lots of overlap between the streams. His stream will focus on bioremediation, vertical farming, aquaponics, genetics and biomaterials. Mine will be focused on microbial fuel cells, graphene and advanced carbon materials (carbon nanotubes, graphene foams, etc etc), and general next gen power generation and storage. Though as I said, there will be a lot of overlap and move between so that the various projects can be as successful as possible. Some of the other streams look like they'll be awesome as well. There's a mars colonization stream, a python and machine learning stream, and even a drone racing stream.

So if you're tired of just talking about all the things we talk about on here and want to actually do something, this is the place. We'll give you all the skills you'll need and the tools to chase your projects to the end. But be prepared to work your ass off! I can't wait for the lab to be built and to get to work. Finally we'll be in a place where we can make some very serious progress on many of the projects that had to be put on the back burner.  Expect lots of fun and exciting things in the future!

BottleNose -- Release. Enjoy!! Thu, 16 Aug 2012 01:57:19 -0700 TimmyCNinja 267@/discussions
What's up. We are releasing BottleNose this evening. Code and schematics available on page linked below.

This is a really simple version. It is meant to be a quick and easy grind. We need your help to improve it. We have a direction that we want to go with it but with a simple interface to the finger magnet you can take it further. We ideas for wireless sensors pumping to the BottleNose, glove form factors, and since we are using Arduino with a 328P you have a ton of pins to mess with.

Sorry it took so long for such a simple circuit, but we started big and simplified. Happy Grinding!

Thoughts on Nickel coatings? Mon, 05 Dec 2016 05:46:04 -0800 xepicxmonkeyx 1858@/discussions I'm about to purchase a nickel N52 magnet after 2 years of searching (for preferably a parylene or gold coating) so as of right now I'm just desperate to order it, however I haven't much researched Nickel coatings for implants. So my question is, are they good, and is they any general information/ tips that I should now about them?

NootBot - smart chatbot assistant for nootropics (feedback) Sat, 10 Sep 2016 10:16:02 -0700 peter_jamnik 1724@/discussions
Me and 3 other friends have been interested in nootropics for a while and because we are tech freaks we have been developing a nootropics messenger bot, so we would love to hear your feedback (negative is more than welcome!) and thoughts on it. It is not natural language yet, but will be soon. Anyhows, it has a huge database in the backend with the constant deep learning.

For now it can: tell what to take for a specific effect you want, what to add to your stack (combinations) and tell you the most reliable nootropic vendors based on noots you want to buy and location (it searches among all nootropic vendors on the web).
Do you think that makes sense? how would you change it??

Cybathlon, worlds first competition for cyborgs Wed, 21 Sep 2016 11:22:34 -0700 chickendiner 1745@/discussions On Saturday, 8 October 2016 there's gonna be the world's first cybathlon in Kloten Switzerland. It's not exactly the same as disscused on this site, but it also suits the description of grinders. Body Hacking with artifacts from the future.

Different teams from all over the world will take part in this event. And my school is one of them.

They will compete in six disciplines;
  1. Brain-Computer Interface Race
  2. Functional Electrical Stimulation Bike Race
  3. Powered Arm Prosthesis Race
  4. Powered Arm Prosthesis Race
  5. Powered Exoskeleton Race
  6. Powered Wheelchair Race

There is a lot of media coverage lately and I think it is really intersting to see what is possible and how it is used.

Maybe some of you guys are interested in it
Interest in brain training Thu, 18 Aug 2016 23:50:08 -0700 Background 1680@/discussions
I'm interested in brain training and meditation. By brain training I'm not talking about games and by meditation  I'm not talking about relaxation. What I am interested in is breaking through bad thought habits and construct mind complexes that will be more useful in this era (such as multi-stream auditive processing). This is, in my eyes, a process within the human mind and the outside world might not be able to completely change it's behaviour from the outside in a 100% constructive manner.

Anyway, now you know where my thoughts and interests lie, I would like to ask this if there are any people with similar interests. I am just a teenager experimenting with his own mind, but I might be able to share a little about my thoughts, but I am no scientist. I won't be showing off my mechanics without getting anything back. It's quite personal how people think, at least, to me it is. I think the knowledge should come from both sides on this area of biohacking.

Thank you for reading. I hope people can understand my difficulties with sharing this kind of information and my opinions about what is truly engaging the mind.

- Background

PS: I'm not sure where you guys normally discuss and how you do so, if there is any particular interest, I would love to be informed about which kind of communication channels exist.
Downtime today for server migration Tue, 02 Aug 2016 11:38:08 -0700 Jack 1658@/discussions
The site and domain names are being migrated to a new home today. I'll try to make this as easy a transition as possible, but there's no way to do this without incurring some downtime. My apologies in advance. If this is going to be a major annoyance, my only advice is to stay off the boards/wiki today, and post any crucial posts or updates after the jump.

I will update this announcement when the migration is complete.

I'm going to keep it fairly short and say please reach out (direct message here) if interested and I would gladly discuss the project more in depth. We are hoping to be on the ground filming by next month so would love to hear from anyone within the U.S and abroad!

Look forward to hearing from you all!

Grindhouse is releasing a new Bottlenose Arduino library. This is complete with diagrams, example programs, and an Android data sending program that works with serial based HEAVILY on the Blueterm program. We have tried to use self documentation in the code so that everything make sense. The android program uses factory design pattern so that it can be extended fairly easily. Feel free to do some pull requests. Constructive criticism is welcome but don't be a cock bag.

Hello! Photographer in London, UK calling all biohackers Thu, 31 Mar 2016 08:30:53 -0700 luik88 1421@/discussions Hi grinders,
I am a photographer interested in technology and its affect on humanity. While doing some research into biotech, I came across this site and found many of your discussions very bold. So many questions arise, how has life changed since your implant? What encouraged you to do it? We are on the cusp of a new frontier where the biological and technological lines are blurring, yet I feel this has not been very well documented photographically.

Thus I have decided to embark on this project -
I look to seek your collaboration on this photographic project and would like to inquire after an opportunity to photograph you for a portrait session of 1-2 hours, If you are uncomfortable with photographing your face, just a close up on your implant would be fine. Ideally I am looking to photograph from 1st to 19th April 2016. The images would aim to promote a sense of personal reflection to a young audience on the diverse applications of biotech, contrasting the flurry of AI illustrated imagery which we see very often in photographs and publications today. These images may be exhibited here in London as well. In return, I would be happy to share with you the digital copies or a print.

Should you be interested, require any further information before committing or just to say hi, email
I super look forward to hearing from all of you!
